Time off...

Well, it has been some time since my last blog update.  That is because my husband and I went away on an amazing weekend marriage retreat!!  I can't express how wonderful it was and how ministered to we were!!  I would highly recommend everyone to plan on attending next year's Wanted: Marriage Ministries Marriage Retreat!!  I will definitely post a reminder about it as registration becomes available next year.  They plan this retreat each year in the fall... so start putting away a few dollars a week... it is beyond worth the money!!

Now I am back to reality and trying to get my schedule going again with homeschooling, housework and everyday details.  Last night I spent time during Biggest Loser to cut coupons and get my lists together for Target and Bi-Rite (a little local grocery store)!  I am excited for both!!  This week looks like it will be good for stocking up on certain items.  I didn't spend much at all on groceries last week so I know that I will spend more this week, especially because Bi-Rite is having a sale on meat.. so I will stock up!!

Well, I just wanted to check in and let you all know that I am still alive, LOL!!  Also, I am still working on my new blog site!  My new goal is to hopefully have it up and running sometime next week!!

Here is what you can look forward to in the mean time... I am planning another Girl's Night Out: Coupon Class!!  The details are being worked out as it will not be held at my house.  As soon as everything is confirmed I will post about it!  Also, after shopping this week I will post pictures of some of my savings on Friday!

SCORE!!

So last night I made it to Target and boy did I SCORE!!!  I was really excited!  It is not every week that you make out this good!  My total out of pocket cost for everything you see is $46.49 with a total savings of $107.31!!  Crazy thing is there are few more items to go back for that I will score for free!!  I would have never bought TGIF dinners, but hey when you are paying $1.33 per bag that will make for some easy lunch food on the weekends when I don't feel like cooking :)!!

I also went to Aldi's to get some grocery items that I needed for my weekly dinner menu.  I only ended up spending $34.17!!

I am planning to do a post on the catagories of my coupon binder.  I have had a few friends ask about it and I will plan to talk a little about that in an upcoming post!

Hope you SCORE this week at Target too!!  Stock up and you will see the savings start!  I don't think we need toothpaste, deoderant, soap or floss for another year ;)

Still working at it!

Happy Monday everyone!  I am still working on my "new" blog... it may take me another week.  This past weekend was very busy for me as I was working at an event the entire weekend at the Maryland Zoo.  Now I am trying to get back on my feet with housework, homeschooling and getting my coupons ready for grocery shopping this week!!  I did manage to run to Rite-Aid on Saturday night and buy $75 worth of stuff and paid NOTHING!! That was quite exciting!

Well, today I wanted to share with you some "tips/advice" that I just emailed to a friend of mine who felt disappointed with their shopping trip this past weekend.  Even though they DID save money using coupons... they just thought that they didn't do a "good job"!  Hey... remember.. ANY MONEY SAVED is a good job!!  There was a day when you would have paid that bill in full and not thought about it :)

Here is the "advice/tips"
(1) don't get discouraged... you DID save money on items that you NEEDED :)

(2) this was one of your first times really trying to use your coupons ... you'll get better with a few more times!

(3) make a list of dinners for each day (like I showed in my spreadsheet) and write down the ingredients you need to make those dinners.  Make another list of household items you need (tp, soap, etc) and then look at the circulars to see who has what on sale so that you know where to buy those items.  Having these lists helps us to buy only what we need and not lots of extras and then not have enough to actually make dinners!  HAVING LISTS READY REALLY HELPS SAVE TIME!!  I usually go to Aldi's, Target, Bi-Rite and sometimes Sam's Club all in one night ... about 3 hours or less.. sometimes Rite-Aid too... whatever I can fit in :) !

(4) when you see a sale on something you always use... (ie. soap) and you have coupons to make it cheap or free... stock up!!!  This is what helps you save money in the long run!

(5) make a binder for your coupons and have it with you when shopping... this helps w/ the items that are on sale that you didn't know about.  When you see it you can check your binder for your coupon :)

(6) I don't shop at lots of grocery stores... I don't have time for that... I shop at Aldi's (which is always cheap) and Bi-Rite (which doubles coupons up to $1.00) and I do some grocery shopping at Target!  Don't get yourself overwhelmed trying to get deals at 5 different grocery stores!  Use the grocery store that best suits you and has a great coupon policy!  Of course, if you see a sale say at Food Lion, for example, on something you use regularly and you have coupons... when convenient for you .. stop by and run in and stock up!  (I don't even bother looking at the grocery store ads for other stores that I don't shop at.. maybe that is bad, but I don't have the time.. I have three kids and can't be running all over God's creation to get groceries, LOL)

Hope this is a help to everyone!!  I am going grocery shopping tonight I believe... maybe I will share with you tomorrow how I made out :)

Thank you!

I just wanted to say "thank you" to those friends that have signed up to follow my blog!  I hate to do this to you... but beware.. I am new at this and I am getting great tips and help from a family member who blogs and I will probably be switching my blog off of blogger and onto another format!  I will send each of you an email to let you know the new location of the blog that I am trying to start and get off the ground.  The reason for this heads up is... before telling your friends and family about my blog... if you could give me until the beginning of next week I think I will have everything moved and ready for the REAL "Blog Launch"!!  Thanks for bearing with me during this and thank you so much for being interested in following my blog!!

Praying about this Adventure!

I had such an amazing time the other night with many friends over talking about couponing, living frugally and other domestication tips!!  The pure joy of sharing this information has made me really think about starting this blog so that I can continue sharing these tips as I come along them.  I was on cloud nine all day and even the following day!  All the feedback from the Couponing Girls Night Out was so wonderful and then of course, the next day I kept thinking of all the things I forgot to share!  So, here I am!!  With this new little blog to start in which I can continue giving you tidbits of info from my frugal experiences and share my love of being domestic!!  My prayer is that many would be blessed by this and that it would be FUN!!!  So who's with me?!  :)
